ANZ grants $389k to local charities
ANZ today announced it has granted $389,450 through its Community Foundation, to 19 charitable organisations that are delivering projects to improve financial wellbeing, housing and environmental sustainability.
The Community Foundation is funded by ANZ employees, and for every dollar they contribute through the workplace giving program the Bank matches it with an additional two dollars. Since 1988, around 930 grants valued at more than $6.4 million have been distributed to groups across Australia.
Chair of the Foundation Sarah Stubbings said: “Each year I look forward to seeing the projects submitted by the charities, each of them aligning to our purpose of helping people and communities thrive, particularly in the areas of housing, financial wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
“It’s pleasing to see the total amount granted to the charities increase this year. It is great to see our ANZ people continuing to contribute some of their pay each fortnight to help fund these important projects and make a difference to the lives of many Australians,” Ms Stubbings said.
This year 19 grants were given, with the average recipient receiving $20,500. Five grants were in Victoria, three in New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia, and one in both Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
