NAB launches national fundraising campaign as emergency grants reach $1 million
NAB has launched a national fundraising campaign to help people impacted by floods across Queensland and NSW, and made additional $100,000 donation to GIVIT’s Storm and Flooding Appeal.
GIVIT is a charity organisation working with the Queensland and NSW governments and local councils through their evacuation centres and recovery hubs, to understand what critical and immediate support is required.
All donations and fundraising will go directly to the most impacted areas across Queensland and New South Wales to provide money towards goods and services like grocery vouchers.
“Everyone in these areas – families, businesses, community organisations – face the prospect of a long and difficult clean-up,” said Rachel Slade, NAB Group Executive Personal Banking.
“100 per cent of publicly donated funds received by GIVIT will be used to purchase exactly what’s needed by people and communities impacted by storms and flooding.
“Every dollar donated to GIVIT’s Storms and Flooding appeal will be matched by NAB, doubling the impact on the ground.”
Donations can be made over-the-counter or on the iPads at NAB branches, or via the NAB Neighbourhood Community Portal.
On-the-ground support by NAB’s Bank in a Box
NAB will be setting up a portable bank in Lismore, NSW to support the local community with banking services.
NAB’s ‘Bank in a Box’ provides a meeting space for customers to have conversations with a banker, full access to digital banking options via iPads, SmartATMs for cash withdrawal and deposits, and Express Business Deposit facilities for small business customers.
NAB’s Employee Assistance Program partner Benestar will also establish a wellbeing hub near the Lismore Bank in a Box to support the community with counselling as they recover from this natural disaster.
NAB Disaster Relief Package
NAB has so far provided more than 1,000 customers and colleagues with $1,000 emergency grants to help with immediate financial support as they need it.
These $1,000 grants help cover costs such as temporary accommodation, food and clothing (eligibility criteria applies). NAB customers who have suffered damage to their home and need assistance can call NAB Assist on 1300 308 132.
$1,000 business grants are available to help restart or reopen and cover the cost of damaged property, equipment, fencing – and for loss of stock or livestock. NAB business and agribusiness customers wishing to access the grants should call NAB’s dedicated team on 1300 769 650.
All enquiries will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the NAB Assist team to determine eligibility.
The $100,000 donation to GIVIT is coming from the bank’s philanthropic arm, the NAB Foundation. This is on top of the $100,000 each to the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and NSW SES to support their response and recovery efforts.
